The things my boy gets up to

In just a short few months, its amazing how naughty my little Arav has become.  Cruti and I used to think the “terrible two’s” phrase was overused but we have quickly realised how true this is.

It seems like one day, a switch in his brain was flicked and he now has to have everything his own way.  From having the phone right now to watching a video on the computer to even coming back inside after some time playing outside with Mum.

I also get very surprised by the speed of his development.  It feels as though sometimes things are moving so fast and he’s going to grow up too quickly.

One thing he has been able to do from quite a young age is scroll through photos on my BlackBerry Torch.  Ok it was a smooth scroll like we’d do, but he knew something happened if he moved his finger from left to right while touching the screen.  Now he can pinch the screen to zoom in and out, he knows when a text message comes through as he tells us if he hears the message tone and he also isn’t content with just been given a phone – he must have it unlocked.  If its locked, he asks us to unlock it.  Denying him is almost guaranteed to lead to a tantrum!

When driving around town, he shouts out “Aaaddaaa” when he spots the big green Asda sign.  In the few warm sunny days we’ve had so far, he’s also loved playing in the park and outside our house, especially with one of his footballs or on his trike or with his sandpit.

I was amazed when I got a call from Cruti a few weeks ago telling me Arav had just climbed up the net in the park to get to the top of the slide!  That weekend I had to see it for myself.  His climbing skills aren’t limited to the park though.  He’s now climbing onto chairs, onto our coffee table if he spots the netbook on it, onto my office desk to get at the PC mouse and the other day somehow he got into our bath.  He must have used the short ledge on one side but it was still quite a feat.  We just found him in there playing with his toy duck and the tap, fully clothed in his PJ’s!

Not all of this bathroom antics are positive though.  He has learned to open the tap, so much so that he opens it full throttle, grabs his toothbrush and pretends to brush his teeth by running the water over the brush then brushing his teeth, then again under the tap, then back in his mouth.  So I walked in and tightly shut the tap so he couldn’t open it. After a short tantrum,  everything went quiet.  This is normally a tell-tale sign that he’s up to something he knows he shouldn’t be.  We go to the bathroom, see Arav complete with toothbrush in mouth……………and he’s standing next to the toilet…….. Yep.  You’ve guessed it.  The little genius has been using the loo water instead of the tap.  The ensuing tantrum was one we were never going to give in to.
